Zahra Baqer

Practice Statement

Zahra Baqer works across moving image, sound, research, and immersive storytelling to explore emotional realities that often remain unseen or difficult to express. Rooted in lived experiences, conversations, and sensory atmosphere, her practice examines themes of care, memory, invisibility, emotional labour, and human connection.

Through fragmented narratives, layered sound, and spatial experiences, she creates works that translate internal and often overlooked conditions into something physically and emotionally perceptible. Rather than offering direct explanations, her work builds environments that invite reflection, empathy, and emotional proximity.

Her practice moves between film, installation, and research-led storytelling, exploring how immersive experiences can deepen the way we encounter and understand one another.
